Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process for assessment or review?
Do you case manage?
No we do not case manage, we offer review of care for Service Users who are entering secure hospitals from mainstream in-patient psychiatric wards and assessment of individuals who are under probation with a personality disorder or traits consistent with the diagnosis.
How are you different from the personality disorder clinical network in Leeds?
We are a region wide service, which covers Yorkshire and Humber. We review and/or assess the needs of personality disorder service users referred to us from prison, secure care or in the community (if under probation) and who are possibly moving into a secure environment. Our remit is to look at the interface between forensic and non forensic care and services for personality disorder service users. The personality disorder clinical network is a community personality disorder team that case manages and offers support for personality disorder service users across the Leeds area.
Can I refer for review and/or assessment?
All referrals will be considered and are reviewed by a panel of professional staff. Any services can refer for advice and sign-posting for an individual with personality disorder who is one or all of the following high risk, high impact, high need. All review referrals need to be made by forensic or local specialist case managers and all referrals for assessment need to be made by Probation Officers/Offender Managers.
What is the future for personality disorder services in the Yorkshire and Humber region?
There are lots of exciting developments happening all over the region. A regional stratgey has been launched this this year and already our colleagues accross Primary Care Trusts and Mental Health Trusts are embracing developments and making real changes in services for people with Personality Disorder.
